About the Study Clock

Study is a clock for long stretches at the desk. An analog face sits on warm paper, and its rim is marked in terracotta where the current study session ends and in sage where the break after it ends, so the minute hand shows at a glance how much is left; a session longer than an hour keeps to the same rim, with the minutes the hand will come round to again drawn in a deeper shade. Beside the dial a large countdown runs to the next change, with the hours when there are any, as in 1:22:30, a line saying when your break starts, and what you are studying if you named it, and under it, with the journal on, a count of the sessions you have done today.

Choose how long you study, from 10 to 90 minutes, and how long you rest, from 5 to 30. Nothing runs until you press Start, and you can name what you are studying first, with your recent subjects a tap away. One session runs, the break follows, and then the clock asks whether you want another: Continue or Stop. Stop ends a session at any time, and Skip break cuts a rest short. The buttons and the subject sit in the controls at the bottom and fade with them, so the face keeps to the clock. A study journal sits beside the clock: today’s illustrated card, a small plant that grows one leaf for every day you study, and, if you turn them on, your week and your recent sessions. Your lengths and your journal stay in your browser, so the clock picks up where you left off the next time you open it.
