Online Stopwatch
About the online stopwatch
A free online stopwatch that runs right in your browser — start, stop, and record laps with millisecond precision. No ads, no sign-up, and nothing to install; just open the page and press start.
Record laps and splits, see your best and worst lap highlighted, and view a lap graph of your pace. Every session is saved to history, and you can pick an analog, digital, or ring face, go full screen, and drive it all from the keyboard. It works great as a lap timer for running, swimming, and workouts, or as a study, cooking, or science-experiment timer.
Frequently asked questions
Is this online stopwatch free?
Yes — it is completely free, with no ads and no account. Just open the page and press start.
How accurate is the stopwatch?
It times with a high-resolution monotonic clock and shows milliseconds, so it stays precise. Because it tracks real elapsed time, it keeps counting accurately even if the tab is in the background.
What is the difference between a lap and a split?
A lap is the time since your previous lap; a split (shown as Total) is the cumulative time from the start. The stopwatch shows both for every lap so you can read either at a glance.
How do I record laps?
Press Lap while the stopwatch is running — or the L key, or the lap button on the analog face. Your fastest and slowest laps are marked automatically.
Does it keep running if I switch tabs or refresh?
Yes. Timing is based on real elapsed time, and your running state is saved, so switching tabs or refreshing the page restores the stopwatch where it was.
Can I save or export my lap times?
Yes. Copy all laps to your clipboard with one tap, and every reset stores the session in History — complete with a lap graph you can revisit.
Can I set a target pace?
Turn on target mode in settings and set a goal lap time. Each lap is then coloured against the target and shows how far ahead or behind you are — handy for interval training.
What keyboard shortcuts does it support?
Space or Enter starts and pauses, L records a lap, R resets, F toggles full screen, and the arrow keys switch between the analog, digital, and ring faces.
