Fireworks Clock

Counting down to more than one day?

Fireworks Clock counts down to one moment at a time, and celebrates it in the sky. For birthdays, holidays and launches, Countdown keeps as many as you like side by side, with the days, hours and minutes left to each.

Fireworks Clock is a fireworks show with the time in it. Over a night harbour, the hours and minutes hang in the sky as glowing stars, a fuse beneath them burns across each minute, and on the minute a shell bursts and its sparks fly into place as the digits that change. The city, its bridge, the moon and the turning stars all lie in the water below, and the moon shows its real phase. Nothing is a video: the whole show is drawn in your browser as it plays, so no two minutes look the same.

Tap the sky to launch a firework there, or tap the water to send one up to the point it mirrors. Launch, in the options at the bottom, sends one up for you, Finale fires a short choreographed sequence, and Shells lets you pick the kind: a heart, a star, a smiley, a butterfly, a clover, a flower, Saturn or a double ring, or the classics, from peony, chrysanthemum and willow to palm, crossette, strobe and crackle. Auto keeps a gentle show going on its own, and Sound, in Settings, adds the launches, the bursts and the crackle, made in your browser and off until you turn it on.

Countdown counts to a moment of your own: a name, a day on the calendar and a time on the wheels, or one tap for In 15 sec, In 5 min, Midnight tonight or New Year’s Eve. Choose how big the celebration is and how long it runs, and whether the sky stays quiet until then. The last ten seconds count down in the sky, and then the show begins. Settings sets the colours, the intensity, the reflection in the water, the moon and the sound, and holds 12-hour or 24-hour time; the screen stays awake while the page is open.

Preguntas frecuentes

How do I count down to New Year?

Tap Countdown in the options at the bottom, then New Year’s Eve under Or pick quickly: the clock counts down to midnight on 1 January, named Happy New Year, unless you typed a name of your own. The last ten seconds count down in the sky, and then the celebration fires for as long as you chose. Leave the page open at midnight, in fullscreen on a TV if you like, and keep the screen on.

Can I count down to my own moment?

Yes. Tap Countdown, give the moment a name, pick the day on the calendar and the time on the wheels, then tap Set countdown, where Countdown was. Celebration sets how big the show is (Small, Grand or Epic), Show length how long it runs, from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, and Until then whether the automatic show holds off so the sky is quiet before it. While it is set, a small note at the top left shows its name and the time left. The countdown is kept in this browser, so it survives a reload, and Clear countdown removes it. The page has to be open when the moment comes.

Why is there no sound?

Sound is off until you turn it on: open Settings in the options at the bottom and turn on Sound, or press S. Browsers only let a page play sound after you touch it, and a clock that opens with a bang is not a calm one. The launches, bursts and crackle are made in your browser as they play. With the page open in two tabs, only the one you touched last plays, and it goes quiet while its tab is hidden.

Which keys can I use?

Space or Enter launches a firework, F fires the finale, A turns the automatic show on or off and S the sound, and Esc closes a panel. On this page F is the finale, so Fullscreen is the button at the end of the options, and Esc leaves it.

Can I change the colours?

Yes. Open Settings in the options at the bottom: under Show are four palettes (Festival, Aurora, Golden hour and Pastel), the intensity of the automatic show (Gentle, Balanced or Celebration), the city’s reflection in the water or still water, and the moon: always up, crossing the sky every twelve hours, or the real sky, rising and setting as its phase does.

Does it work offline?

Yes, once the page has loaded. There are no pictures or videos to fetch: the harbour, the fireworks and the sound are all made in your browser, and the two typefaces come with the page. There is no account and no sign-up, and your choices and your countdown stay in this browser rather than being sent anywhere.

Can it show seconds or a 24-hour clock?

Yes. Open Settings in the options at the bottom for 12h or 24h. In 24-hour time, Seconds puts the seconds at the end of the date line under the fuse; in 12-hour time that place shows AM or PM, which AM/PM turns off.

Will my screen stay on?

Yes, while this page is open, in browsers that let a page keep the screen awake; Keep screen on, under Bedside in Settings, turns it off. The show pauses its drawing while the tab is hidden or scrolled away, and the clock and any countdown keep time.

Can I use it on the main clock?

Yes. “Make this my clock” saves the Fireworks face as your main clock without leaving this page, and the note that appears links to it. The colours, the show, the sound and your countdown are one setting for both; there, the same options sit in the toolbar at the bottom and in Style, under Fireworks.
